2006 Election
Results
Democrats gained control over the US House of Representatives and Senate in an election that the press is calling a referendum on George Bush and the Iraq War.
Several cities passed measures to Impeach Bush and Cheney:
- San Francisco, CA by a 59.4% majority.
- Berkeley, CA by a 68.9% majority.
- Champaign-Urbana, IL by a 50.6% majority.
Election Protection
There were many reports of Republican attempts to steal the 2006 election like they did in 2000 and 2004.. But this time they were being watched by election protection groups and by the press. That may have made a significant difference in this election.

Exit Polling
Exit polls are generally considered a very accurate predictor of the final results. But in several key precincts in 2004, Bush had mysteriously high vote counts that contradicted the exit polls. These were often associated with electronic voting machines. This is considered by many to be evidence of vote tampering. [USCountVotes]
On election day morning in 2006, Republicans poison the well by casting doubt on exit polling.
